Director ID Verification for Arab directors: what it is and who must verify

How it works

   Message us on WhatsApp

   Tell us your name, your company number and which ID document you'll use, such as your passport. We confirm eligibility, then send you a secure verification link.

   Complete the ID check remotely

   Using the secure link, photograph your ID document and record a short video selfie. You can do it from anywhere in the world.

   We submit it, and you get a personal code

   Once your check is complete, we submit it to Companies House, which issues your Companies House personal code. Verifying does not update your company's records by itself.

   Your code is given for each role

   You give your personal code separately for each role you hold. As an existing director, it goes in with the company's next confirmation statement, which we can file for you; that statement covers your director role only. As a new director, you give it when you are appointed. As a person with significant control (PSC), you give it through Companies House's separate “Provide identity verification details for a PSC” service. If you become a PSC from 18 November 2025, that is when you are added to the register or within the 14 days after. If you were a PSC before then, it is the first 14 days of your birth month (PSC only), or the 14 days from the day after the company's confirmation statement date (also a director).

Sending documents: when we ask for them, email them to support@fileminder.co.uk only. Don't send them to any other address or post them anywhere. They are kept in your client file as our privacy policy describes.

Frequently asked questions

Does a dormant company director still need to verify?

Yes. The requirement applies to all UK company directors regardless of whether the company is trading, dormant or dormant-filing-only. There are no exemptions based on company activity.

Can I use my Emirates ID or Saudi national ID?

A current biometric passport from any country can be used with GOV.UK One Login. If you prefer the ACSP route or want to use another document, Fileminder will first confirm that it meets the current Companies House evidence standard.

What happens if I miss my identity-verification due date?

A company cannot file its confirmation statement unless all directors are verified. Continuing to act after your due date without completing the requirements may be an offence, and Companies House can use financial penalties, prosecution or referral for disqualification in appropriate cases.

How long does verification take?

Once you complete the short video check, we submit it to Companies House, which issues your Companies House personal code. How long that takes depends on Companies House and your documents, so we do not promise a time. Your role shows as verified once your personal code has been given for it.

Do I verify again for each company or role?

In most cases you verify once. You then use your Companies House personal code to connect your verified identity to each role you hold, for example on each company's confirmation statement.

I am a person with significant control (PSC). When do I give my code?

Separately from any director role, through Companies House's “Provide identity verification details for a PSC” service. If you were a PSC before 18 November 2025 and are not a director, you give it in the first 14 days of your birth month. If you were a PSC before then and are also a director, you give it in the 14 days starting the day after the company's confirmation statement date; the confirmation statement itself covers only your director role. If you become a PSC from 18 November 2025, you give it when you are added to the register, or within the 14 days after.

What is the difference between One Login and ACSP verification?

GOV.UK One Login is the direct Companies House route and accepts a current biometric passport from any country, as well as certain UK documents. The ACSP route uses an authorised agent such as Fileminder to complete checks to the Companies House standard. Both routes can be used from overseas.

Can my accountant verify my identity for me?

Only if they are an ACSP-authorised provider. Not all accountants are authorised. This is a separate Companies House registration. Fileminder is ACSP-authorised and can verify directors remotely.
