Why is opening a UK bank account so hard?
Traditional UK high-street banks often reject non-resident directors who don't have a UK address or local credit history. Many Arab directors face repeated rejections or are asked to attend a UK branch in person. Often the difficulty is not the company itself but the choice of provider or an incomplete document pack.
A bank, or an e-money provider?
Depending on the provider and the product, a business account may be supplied by a bank or by an FCA-authorised e-money or payment institution. The practical difference is protection. Money at an e-money or payment institution is protected by safeguarding rules rather than by FSCS deposit protection, which covers eligible deposits at UK-authorised banks up to £120,000 per eligible depositor per authorised firm (since 1 December 2025). For a company account, the depositor is the company, not each director. Before you hold large balances, check who legally provides the account, which protection applies and what features it has.
What we cannot promise
No third party can open a UK account for you or bypass identity and anti-money-laundering checks: you must pass them personally. Each provider sets its own criteria for non-residents, decides after its own checks, and may decline without giving a reason. Our role is preparing your documents, suggesting the provider that fits, and guiding you through the application.
How we help
We prepare a complete document pack for you: certificate of incorporation, business activity letter, proof of address, and ownership structure, all formatted to each provider's requirements. We then match you to the right provider for your business type. A complete, consistent application helps, but the decision is always the provider's.
Which provider is right for you?
We match you to the right provider for your business. Here are providers you may consider, subject to each one's eligibility checks.

An important, honest note
No third party, including an accountant or agent, can open a bank account on your behalf or bypass KYC and anti-money-laundering checks. The director must pass these personally. Our role is to prepare your application thoroughly and suggest a provider that fits your business. Approval is always the provider's decision.

Frequently asked questions
- Can non-resident Arab directors open a UK business bank account?
- It can be, but it is not guaranteed. Some providers accept online applications from eligible non-resident directors, but the rules differ by country of residence, company and provider: Tide, for example, asks for a UK mobile number. We check each provider's current criteria and help prepare your documents, and the provider makes the decision. Traditional high-street banks are usually harder and may ask for a visit to a UK branch.
- Which UK business bank account provider is best for Arab directors?
- It depends on your needs. Tide suits a simple GBP trading account. Airwallex suits companies that need several currencies, such as GBP, USD and EUR. We suggest the provider that fits your business, and each provider makes its own decision.
- What documents do I need to open a UK business bank account?
- Certificate of incorporation, memorandum and articles of association, proof of director identity (passport or national ID), proof of address, and a business activity description. Your registered office must already be on the Companies House register.
