Director ID verification (IDV)
What it is
A new Companies House requirement for all directors and PSCs to prove their identity. Verification is done either through GOV.UK One Login or via an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP).
Why it matters
It became mandatory on 18 November 2025. Existing directors provide their personal code with the company's next confirmation statement. Overseas directors can use One Login with a current biometric passport from any country or choose an authorised ACSP.
Common mistake
Waiting until the deadline. Providers get busier and document or video-check issues take time to resolve.
