Director ID verification for non-resident directors

From 18 November 2026, all existing UK company directors and PSCs must verify their identity with Companies House. The GOV.UK One Login route generally expects a UK passport or driving licence — which most overseas directors don't have. The ACSP route exists precisely for you.

What usually happens

An Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) — like Fileminder — is authorised by Companies House to verify your identity remotely. You don't travel to the UK and you don't need UK documents: your Emirates ID, Saudi national ID, or Gulf passport plus a short biometric video check are accepted. Unverified directors face a public flag on the register and growing restrictions on filing.

What to check first

  1. 1

Confirm whether you have a UK passport/driving licence — if not, use the ACSP route.

  2. 2

Have a valid passport or national ID ready (Emirates ID and Saudi national ID are accepted).

  3. 3

Don't leave it to November 2026 — providers get busier and document issues take time.

  4. 4

Verify every director and PSC of the company, not just one.
